Be a Rainbow

Howdy!

Today's card is being entered into the following challenges:
Always Fun Challenge #156
Through the Craft Room Door Anything Goes Challenge - 31st March 2020
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends C #128

Found out that the 31st of March is National Crayon Day!

First I'd ever heard of it. And as soon as I did, I knew I had to come up with this colorful card. But it did take me a while to put this card together. Because, in the stamp set I have there is only one crayon stamp, so I had to stamp it repeatedly. I also created a mask by stamping and fussy cutting the crayon on Post-It. Then to color it, I used a variety of alcohol markers. Fortunately, this sentiment was only two pieces. Which was far easier after creating the crayon rainbow.

Stamps: TPC Studio I Love School, CTMH Be a Rainbow

For today's card, I stamped the center chick onto both the cardstock and a Post-It. Then I fussy cut the image on the Post-It to create a mask. When that was done, I placed the mask over the center chick. And then I stamped to the left and right of the chick. Then I removed the mask and brought out my colored pencils. I started out by coloring the beak and feet of the chicks. Then I blended the colors in using baby oil on a Fantastix stick. I then moved onto the coloring of the center chick. First, I colored the chick all over. Then I traced with a darker shaded pencil along the body and center of the image. I then drew a couple of chicken tufts. This was done by drawing a V around portions of the body, this mimicked the image of the chick. And finally, I blended the color out using baby oil and a Fantastix. Then I repeated those steps for the other 2 chicks.

Another great sentiment for the times we are living in with Corona Virus going around. I am someone who is unable to be out at this time, because of my health conditions. Thankfully my doctors understand that right now it is better for me to stay home then it is to go in for my check-ups.

This time, I used Post-It tape to cover up about 2/3 of the card. And then I stenciled over the remainder of the card. The stencil that I used was homemade. Although I do have a much larger feather stencil. If you click on the label with stencil below this post you can view the cards I have created with that stencil.

This sentiment is perfect for the times we are living in right now. This card was created first by die cutting a couple of feathers into projection sheet film. Then I brought out some of my ink colors. There are only 3 ink colors used besides the one for the sentiment. Although you will see 4 ink colors. When I blended the blue ink too close to the pink, it turned purple. But it looks lovely. After I ink blended through the stencil, I then stamped the sentiment in the center of the card.

#TGIFC257 Technique Challenge
STAMPlorations March Stencil Challenge

Have you been playing along with The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge? I have and it's been great motivation. This is my 30th day of participating in the challenge.

For today's card, I started out by stamping the stones onto both the cardstock and a Post-It. The Post-It was then turned into a mask, after I fussy cut the stones out. I did the same thing for the kangaroos. I then stamped onto the cardstock. using the masks to cover the areas I was stamping on. That way some items were able to be stamped under or beside the kangaroos. When the stamping of the piece was done. I moved onto coloring in the kangaroos and stones. For that I used colored pencils and baby oil to blend the colors out. When all the coloring was complete, I glued that cardstock on the card base. I then searched for my sentiment, as I didn't know where it was stored. Gives me more motivation to work on my stamp book. I will share that with y'all once it's complete.

For the sentiment, I stamped that onto vellum. And then heat embossed. When that was done, I ran the vellum through my Xyron. The adhesive in the Xyron is good for using with vellum as you can't see it.

Stamps: Art Impressions freebie stamp (2016), Flower Set 4052, Southwest 4763, Foliage 4051, CTMH She's a Wildflower
Paper: CTMH White Daisy, Lagoon, Vellum

Force You to Love Me

Howdy!

Today over at the Make My Monday challenge blog. We have a NEW challenge it's to Make Your Own Background.

Today's card is also being entered into the following challenges:

The Cutie Pie Challenge Blog Little Cuties!!! - pretty sure baby Yoda is a little cutie
Dare 2B Artzy March Challenge: Anything Goes
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends C #128
613 Avenue Create Challenge #231 - Anything Goes w/Optional Twist: Use Colored Pencils - baby Yoda was colored with pencils

For today's card, I started out by stamping onto some cardstock. The cardstock had previously run through the Xyron. Then I colored him in with my colored pencils. Followed by blending the coloring in with baby oil. And finally, I fussy cut baby Yoda out.

Next, I took some cardstock and sprayed ink onto it. When I was done with the ink spray, I took out my acrylic paint. With my acrylic paint I also brought out a toothbrush. To create the stars, I put a bit of the acrylic paint on the toothbrush and then rub that against my finger. This creates a spray effect.

Stamps: KS Chickie Nuggies
Paper: CTMH White Daisy

A Blog Named Hero March Challenge!

Time Out Challenge #158

I have been playing along with The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge. Have you had a chance to play along? I have and it's been great motivation. This is my 29th day of participating in the challenge.

For this bookmark, I started out by cutting some watercolor paper. Then I stamped on  it and heat embossed the images. The reason for the heat embossing is because it is easier to keep the colors in place. Because the heat embossed image acts as a well to hold the water coloring in place.

Stamps: Hero Arts Absolutely Awesome, Four Dolls

Cardz4Galz Challenge# 118 Cute Animals

Have you been playing along with The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge? I have and it's been great motivation. This is my 27th day of participating in the challenge.

For this card, I used a variety of alcohol markers. To prep for the 30 Day Challenge, I swatched out a lot of my coloring mediums. Still need to swatch some more. I enjoy coloring with my alcohol markers because they blend nicely and are quick to use. For the sentiment, I stamped that out and then ran it through my paper trimmer. As for the ends, I fussy cut those out. And I realized that it looked like too much white for me. So I doodled around the sentiment.

I have been playing along with The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge. Have you had a chance to play along? I have and it's been great motivation. This is my 27th day of participating in the challenge.

For this card, I used colored pencils. As I don't have a lot of varying black shades of alcohol markers. To begin, I stamped the skunk on both a cardstock piece and Post-It. The Post-It then was fussy cut and became a mask for the ink blending I did in the background of this circle. I colored the little skunk in colored pencil and then went back over it with baby oil to blend out the color.

Simon Says: Anything Goes

Have you been playing along with The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge? I have and it's been great motivation. This is my 28th day of participating in the challenge.

For the little fox, I used colored pencils. I must admit that I had to color him twice. You see my regular technique is to color the whole image and then go back to do blending. But, that didn't work out so good the first time. So instead, I had to color each segment and then blend before going on to the next color. When the little fox was done, I brought out my alcohol marker to color in the shadow. As for the sentiment. Once I placed in onto the card next to the fox.  I thought it needed something more so I brought out my Sharpie pen and doodled.

Have you had a chance to play along with The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge? I have and it's been great motivation. This is my 27th day of participating in the challenge.

For today's card, I started out by stamping the image. When that was done, I then die cut a circle so the cute raccoon had a space. Then I grabbed my alcohol markers. I'm so grateful that I swatched out my various alcohol markers. That way I was able to use the colors that I thought looked best. For the colors I chose I googled what a raccoon looks like. When the coloring was done I stamped the image again onto Post-It. That way I was able to create and then fussy cut a mask. I did this so I could ink up the remaining empty space of the die cut. Before putting the card together. I looked through my scrap pile and found this green designer paper. I glued that onto the card base and then glued everything else on top of that.

I have been playing along with The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge. Have you had a chance to play along? I have and it's been great motivation. This is my 28th day of participating in the challenge.

Last year for Easter, my husband's sister and her family came to visit. In their area of Utah, when the world is normal, the kids have Spring Break the week of Easter. (She's the youngest girl, but my husband is the youngest of all 6. Which is why I want to call her my youngest Sister-in-law. But because of my husband's number in the family, it doesn't work.) While her family was here we visited the Johnson National Historical Park. It's an interesting park because they show you what life was like in Texas. With a live reenactment including the animals on the ranch. When we were there last year, we got to see how they did Easter eggs in the olden days. Which meant that the colors came from either boiling plants or pantry items. My Easter eggs are more along those lines as opposed to being done with fun patterns.

For today's card, I used quite a lot of homemade stencils. If you've visited before, you will recognize the clouds and grass stencil. The new homemade stencil today is the egg, which I colored in Easter colors. I started the card out by stamping the bunny on both the cardstock and a Post-It. The Post-It bunny was then fussy cut and became a mask. That way I was able to use the stencils. The coloring of the bunny was done with alcohol markers. When the coloring and stenciling were done. I then took out some die cut clouds, one was used to stamp the sentiment onto. The other 2 were cut into sections and the remaining part of the clouds were placed on the opposite ends of the card.

For this card, I started out by stamping the deer in the middle. I stamped him in twice, first onto the card base and then onto Post-It note. Then I fussy cut the Post-It note deer and was able to use him as a mask. I then stamped the two deer flanking the red nosed deer. And from there I was able to place a mask on those deer and stamp another deer to flank them. When that was done, I brought out my colored pencils. And when that was done, I put a large piece of Post-It note to cover up all the deer. That way I could create the cloud background, Then stencil I used is a homemade stencil. I made the stencil a while ago, by using a die cut and a projection sheet. If you feel inclined to scroll through my blog, you will see how often I use this particular stencil.

Christmas Mouse Tradition

CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #363 - Sketch

The Holly and Ivy Christmas Challenge # 68 - Anything Christmas Goes

I know it's a bit early to be thinking about Christmas. At least according to my husband it is.

But speaking of Christmas. Does your family have any special traditions that they do? In my husband's family, they have a Christmas Mouse. The tradition of the Christmas Mouse was started by my mother-in-law. It was a way to gather the family back together. After all the presents were open and the kids wanted to go play with their friends. What the Christmas Mouse does is he brings out videos and books that the family can read together. You never know what part of the house the mouse will show up in or what time he will come out. But it is a lot of fun. That's what I've heard anyway. I mean we do have a Christmas Mouse. But we don't have children so our mouse doesn't have a chance to do anything. Or have any excitement around him.

Have you been playing along with The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge? I have and it's been great motivation. This is my 25th day of participating in the challenge.

For this card, I used my We R Stamp Press. The press comes with 1 acrylic plate to lay your stamps on. But you can buy an extra plate. Which is what I do, I use 2 plates. That way I can lay the stamps out. Then I stamped the plate that had the Santa hat. So I stamped that twice, the first time onto the card and the second onto Post-It notes to create a mask. I then fussy cut the Santa hat. When I was done, I put the mask over the hat and then I stamped the little mouse and her piece of cheese on top of that mask. After that I colored the mouse in with colored pencils. And then I used a Fantastic tool and baby oil to blend the colors. When that was done, I brought out my alcohol marker to draw in the mouse's shadow.
