Rotting Flowers

Howdy!

My name is Mary Ellen Driggs and my blog is Creative Time With M.E.

I have had such a fun time being a guest designer for the Clever Dexter blog this month!

This month's challenge Sponsor is Oddball Stamps. And the challenge for this month is Beach Bum.

As guest designer I was able to play with the Creepy Cute Big Eye Hula Girl Spooky Sue Image No. 247 from Oddball Stamps! With this stamp set you get a couple of images. My previous post showcased the hula girl image. For this post, we will focus on the other images in this set.

This card is slightly shorter than an A2 sized card. I printed the stamp set out a couple of times and then fussy cut out the skulls. Then I took my Sharpie marker to doodle on top of the skulls. And finally I colored in the flowers on the skulls using a pink alcohol marker. I then used that pink marker to color the flowers inside the word FLOWERS to create a cohesive look. As for the word ROTTING, I used a red alcohol marker to color the word. For the top of the card, I took a scrap of white cardstock. Then I blended in some distress ink and sprinkled water to activate the ink. Next, I took that scrap and a border punch to create the dripping blood look and glued that to the top of the card.

Stamps: Oddball Stamps Creepy Cute Big Eye Hula Girl Spooky Sue Image No. 247
Paper: CTMH White Daisy
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink Fired Brick
Accessories: Amazon makeup brush, Martha Stewart Drippy Goo punch, Sharpie Twin Tip, Copic W2 Warm Gray No. 2, Spectrum Noir TriBlend Bright Pink Blend, Dark Red Blend

Birthday Frenzy

Howdy!

Today's card is being entered into the following challenges:
Inky Paws Challenge #121
STAMPlorations April Stencil Challenge
Creative Fingers Challenge #184
Crafty Catz Challenge #502 ~ Anything Goes
QKR Stampede Challenge #394
Polkadoodles Week 16 Anything Goes Craft & Card Making Challenge
Southern Girls ~ Team Lou ~ Anything Goes
PENNY'S CHALLENGE #469
CCEE2016 - Stencils

Today is the 10th day I am participating in The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge! I have found it to be great motivation to work on my coloring. Have you had a chance to play along?

For this card, I used a We R Memory Stamp Press. It comes with a platform and a plexi sheet to place your stamps on. You can buy extra plexi sheets. Which is what I do. I actually have 2 Stamp Presses and an extra plexi sheet. I took the party hats from one stamp set. But there are only 2 hats. So I started out by attaching the shark stamp onto one of the plexi sheets. Then I put the hats on top of that, and attached them onto another plexi sheet. I did that a couple of times until the party hats were stamped onto a good number of the sharks. For each party hat, I created a paper mask, which was fussy cut. I placed the paper masks on top of the hats and then I stamped the sharks. The group of sharks is an individual stamp.

As for the coloring. The hats were colored with alcohol marker. While the sharks were colored with pencils. Then I blended the sharks out using a Fantastix and baby oil. If you would like to see how I did that please visit here.

Stamps: CTMH Holiday Occasions, Lawn Fawn Peacock Before 'n Afters, Newton's Nook Shark Frenzy
Paper: CTMH White Daisy
Ink: CTMH Intense Black, Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers
Accessories: Spellbinders Curved Rectangles, Dylusions Small Fishtails Stencil, Amazon makeup brush, Prismacolor Premier Crimson Red, Crimson Lake, 10% Cool Grey, 90% Cool Grey, 70% Cool Grey, 20% Cool Grey, 50% Cold Grey, 30% Cold Grey, Slate Grey, Spectrum Noir Triblend Lavender, Green Turquoise, Fantastix

I Ruff You Too

Howdy!

Today's card is being entered into the following challenges:
LAWN FAWNATICS CHALLENGE 74 – CARD SKETCH
STAMPlorations April Stencil Challenge
Arty Divas Challenge #19
Try It On Tuesday Have Fun with Stencils
Unicorn Challenge #53 Furry Friends

Today is the 8th day I am participating in The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge! I have found it to be great motivation to work on my coloring. Have you had a chance to play along?

For today's card, I took the sketch from Lawn Fawn and flipped it. I stamped 2 dogs and then created a stencil for 2 hearts to go above them. That way I was able to stay true to the sketch. For the dogs, I used colored pencil. Then I blended them out using a Fantastix and baby oil. If you are unfamiliar with the technique, I have a video on how I do it here. As for the dogs shadows, I used an alcohol marker for that.

For the grass and the sky, I used a couple of other homemade stencils. The sky was placed above the part that follows the sketch. And to separate the sketch part from the sky, I have a die cut banner. The banner was actually extended as it is much shorter. As for the sentiment on the banner that was heat embossed. Distress Inks and Oxide Inks were used in this card. So I used a water bottle to activate them. The ink for the clouds used a section of a sponge. While the grass and the hearts used 2 different Amazon makeup brushes.

Stamps: Lawn Fawn Critters at the Dog Park
Paper: CTMH White Daisy, Black
Ink: CTMH Archival Black, VersaMark Watermark Stamp Pad, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Mowed Lawn, Distress Oxide Broken China, Candied Apple
Accessories: Prismacolor Premier Blush Pink, Mineral Orange, Burnt Ochre, Terra Cotta, 50% Warm Grey, 70% Warm Grey, 90% Warm Grey, Ranger White Embossing Powder, homemade stencil (MFT Grassy Edges, SU! Rainbow Builder Framelits, Echo Park Create Photo Card), Fantastix, Amazon makeup brush, CTMH Round Sponge, Amazon makeup brush, Spectrum Noir Dull Green TriBlend™ Marker, MFT Stitched Sentiment Strips Die-namics
