November Rainbow Card Challenge

Howdy!

Today over at the Rainbow Card Challenge Blog. We have a NEW challenge! That is to create a Sparkling Sapphire monochromatic card.

For today's card, I heat embossed the sentiment. And then I brought out my Amazon makeup brushes and Tim Holtz inks, along with a spray bottle. After I was satisfied with the result from the blending and spraying with water. I used red line tape to glue the front of the card onto the base. That is because the front panel is a bit flimsy now after all that blending. Then I brought out the enamel dots and scattered them around the card.

Backyard Astronaut

I'm back! I am  Mary Ellen Driggs and my blog is Creative Time With M.E.

I had such fun last month being a guest designer for the Clever Dexter that they let me come back!

This month's challenge Sponsor is Polkadoodles!

And the challenge for this month is All that Sparkles!

As guest designer I was able to play with the Astronaut - Little Dudes from Polkadoodles!  With this stamp set you get this adorable little dude. Plus 3 fab themed printable papers and themed sentiments!

I chose to do a slimline card for this image! This allowed me to have plenty of space to create the card I was envisioning. I knew that the astronaut needed to have a galaxy setting behind him. But I also knew he needed to be grounded a bit since he's standing in the grass. So to help with that look I created the fence.

The fence was created using an Amazon makeup brush and a retired punch. Along with Distress Ink in Brushed Corduroy and Distressed Oxide in Vintage Photo. Also, I used my T-square ruler and a Sharpie. The grass was created with a homemade stencil. As for the astronaut, he's colored with a mixture of colored pencils and alcohol markers. Finally, I created the galaxy using a mixture of Dylusions sprays and some white paint.

Reasons to be Happy

Howdy!

Today over at the Color My Heart Color Dare challenge blog. We have a NEW challenge it's to use Monochromatic Shades of Yellow.

For this card, as the colors we are challenged to use are shades of Yellow. I knew I needed a happy sentiment. So I started the card out by stamping the sentiment. Then I brought out my stencil. And then various shades of distress yellow distress inks. I only have a few so I used both the oxide and the distress inks. Then I used a water bottle to activate the element that distress inks are known for.

On the Beach

My name is Mary Ellen Driggs and my blog is Creative Time With M.E.

I am so excited to be a guest designer for the Clever Dexter blog this month!

This month's challenge Sponsor is Oddball Stamps.

And the challenge for this month is Beach Bum.

As guest designer I was able to play with the Creepy Cute Big Eye Hula Girl Spooky Sue Image No. 247 from Oddball Stamps!  With this stamp set you get a couple of images.

For this A2 sized card, I used stencils to create the background and ink. Also for where the ocean meets the beach, I put fabric applique there and heated it up. This creates a more realistic look. And for the beach cutie, I used colored pencils. And blended the pencils with baby oil. On my YouTube channel, there are videos on how I use colored pencils and blend with them. Along with a video on how I create such a wonderful cloud background.

That's Logic

Howdy!

Today over at the Make My Monday challenge blog. We have a NEW challenge it's to create something Tone on Tone Background.

For today's card, I used a stamp that I won from Miss Ink Stamps Instagram hop. I heat embossed the sentiment onto white cardstock. Then I brought out my makeup brush and inks. I blended the colors and then sprayed a bit of water to create the cloudy bokeh effect. Finally, I scattered some glitter gems around the sentiment.

Today is the 10th day I am participating in The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge! I have found it to be great motivation to work on my coloring. Have you had a chance to play along?

For this card, I used a We R Memory Stamp Press. It comes with a platform and a plexi sheet to place your stamps on. You can buy extra plexi sheets. Which is what I do. I actually have 2 Stamp Presses and an extra plexi sheet. I took the party hats from one stamp set. But there are only 2 hats. So I started out by attaching the shark stamp onto one of the plexi sheets. Then I put the hats on top of that, and attached them onto another plexi sheet. I did that a couple of times until the party hats were stamped onto a good number of the sharks. For each party hat, I created a paper mask, which was fussy cut. I placed the paper masks on top of the hats and then I stamped the sharks. The group of sharks is an individual stamp.

As for the coloring. The hats were colored with alcohol marker. While the sharks were colored with pencils. Then I blended the sharks out using a Fantastix and baby oil. If you would like to see how I did that please visit here.

I placed the mask for the party hat back on the kitty. And then I brought out an Amazon makeup brush to apply the squeezed lemonade to the area. Finally, I pieced the card together.

For today's card, I took the sketch from Lawn Fawn and flipped it. I stamped 2 dogs and then created a stencil for 2 hearts to go above them. That way I was able to stay true to the sketch. For the dogs, I used colored pencil. Then I blended them out using a Fantastix and baby oil. If you are unfamiliar with the technique, I have a video on how I do it here. As for the dogs shadows, I used an alcohol marker for that.

For the grass and the sky, I used a couple of other homemade stencils. The sky was placed above the part that follows the sketch. And to separate the sketch part from the sky, I have a die cut banner. The banner was actually extended as it is much shorter. As for the sentiment on the banner that was heat embossed. Distress Inks and Oxide Inks were used in this card. So I used a water bottle to activate them. The ink for the clouds used a section of a sponge. While the grass and the hearts used 2 different Amazon makeup brushes.

Have you had a chance to play along in The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge? Today is the 6th day I am participating in challenge! I have found it to be great motivation to work on my coloring.

I was inspired by the above sketch from My Favorite Things. And I knew I needed to create a stencil for it. I did that by using some Transparency Film cut down to A2 card size. Then I brought out a star die cut. After that I ran both through my die cut machine. This creates a nice reusable stencil. It is sturdy and can be used over again.

If you visit the My Favorite Things blog you will find this post. Right now, while we are all on lock down in our homes. It is so important to remember the everyday heroes who are out there. The medical professionals, military, and all the other people we take for granted. Who are doing their best to keep us safe and moving through this.

I used one of the nurses that are available as a freebie on that blog post link in the previous paragraph. For the coloring, I used both alcohol markers and colored pencils. If you haven't yet visited my YouTube channel. There is a video showing how I use colored pencils and blend the colors out. Here is the link for that. Once, I was done coloring him in, I fussy cut him out. Then I ran him through my Xyron machine, so I didn't have to worry about getting a good amount of adhesive down. I then brought out my homemade stencil and distress ink. Using my Amazon makeup brush I applied the ink onto the card base. When that was done, I put the nurse on top of that area. Then I used my water bottle to activate the oxide part of the ink. To finish the card off, I cut the sentiment out and backed it up with 3M foam tape. And then I scattered the embellishments around my card.

Owl Wish You a Happy Birthday

For this card, I did quite a few techniques. The first was stamping the owls onto the watercolor paper. Then heat embossing them. After that I sprayed the paper down with my water bottle. I found that the best was to get the Arteza watercolor paper to work is to spray it down first. I then used my Arteza pens to color them in and blended that out with my waterbrush. Once, I was happy with how the owls look. I next created a mask by stamping the owls onto a Post-It note and the fussy cutting that out. Then I placed the mask over the owls. Next, I took out my homemade stencil, part of a sponge, and my distress oxide ink pad. I then used those items to create my cloudy background. After that I sprayed the oxide ink with my water bottle. This was my first time using the oxide ink to create cloudy background. But, I like how it turned out. What do you think?
