Perfect Companions

Howdy!

Today's card is being entered into the following challenges:
My Favorite Things Sketch 478
My Favorite Things MFT Color Challenge 136
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes
Simon Says: Anything Goes
Southern Girls Challenge ~ Anything Goes
QKR Stampede Challenge #387 - Anything Goes
CARDZ TV ANYTHING GOES CHALLENGE #109

I had fun making this card. I started out by cutting some French Vanilla, Kraft, Sweet Leaf, and Peach down to a A2 size card bases with a top fold. As CTMH only does 12x12 cardstock. That left me with 8 card bases all together, plus some scraps. Then I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of the French Vanilla. After that I cut the cardstock down to a good size to frame the sentiment. And for this card. Once I was happy with the size of the cardstock that the sentiment was on I then glued that down to a scrap of Peach. And followed up by cutting down that piece of Peach cardstock. Before placing the sentiment on the card. I took 2 Kraft card bases and cut one of them down to a 4.25x5.5 size piece of cardstock. And folded the other card base at the top. Then I brought out the hemp rope and cut a long enough piece so that I could wrap it around the card front 3 times. I secured the rope with washi tape. And then I put foam tape around the bottom of the card front, everywhere except for where the hemp rope was. That way my card wasn't left with a bulge or bump in the front. I then brought out my die cut to create an extra embellishment piece.

Thinking of You

Howdy!

Today's card is being entered into the following challenges:

Simon Says: Anything Goes
Sunday Stamps SSC225 BRIGHT AND BOLD
Southern Girls Challenge ~ Anything Goes

CARDZ TV ANYTHING GOES CHALLENGE #109

To create this card. I used my Stamp Perfect stamping platform, to stamp the IO Elegant Feathers stamp. Once the background was to my liking. I then stamped the sentiment onto some cardstock. And then punched a hole in it using my Crop-a-dile. After that I attached a small eyelet and then ran my black bakers twine through it. When that was done I used some foam tape to pop the tag up. And once that was done, I realized that the tag felt like it was missing something. So I brought out my Sharpie marker and drew lines.

Today's card is being entered into the following challenges:
#SSSIGCHALLENGE - Birthday cards
My Favorite Things blog - The Birthday Project - make sure your birthday project card features a heart
Through the Craft Room Door - Anything Goes

I have enjoyed playing with stencils a lot lately. For this card, I stacked a series of sentiments from my stamp set. After stamping, I then put the stencil on top of the card base. I then applied the ink using one of my blending makeup brushes from Amazon. I applied a lighter pressure around the sentiment section and went with more of a heavy hand for the rest.

Paper: CTMH White Daisy
Ink: CTMH Candy Apple, Intense Black

Battle Cancer

Howdy!

This week my uncle lost his battle to cancer. He fought it bravely for 4 years. My (step) Dad was diagnosed shortly after my uncle. And my dad passed away first; in June of 2016. My first dog, Einstein, passed away at the end of that year from the same cancer that killed my dad. And yet my uncle still battled the illness. My youngest cousin, his baby girl, got married in October 2018. At that point my uncle was spending half his week at home and the other half in the hospital. But, this week he couldn't battle anymore.

I'm glad my uncle is no longer in pain. And no longer has to endure the treatment to battle his cancer. It's so hard to believe that there's still no cure for cancer. Other than going through Chemo and radiation.

So when I saw this week's sketch, Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch 477, over at the My Favorite Things blog. There was only one stamp that I thought of using.

I am also entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Add A Sentiment Challenge.

Mousy Birthday Blowout

Howdy!

Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Add A Sentiment
House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge - HMFMC #310 Anything Goes or the option of More Than 1 Fold
Your Next Stamp Company - Challenge #133 – Inside and Out

For this card I started out by die cutting the card. Then I stamped the mouse onto some White Daisy cardstock. After I was done coloring this image in I fussy cut it out. Before placing it onto the card, I stamped half of the mouse on the card and then I glued the mouse down. For the inside of the card, I stamped the sentiment on first before putting the card together. Once the card was put together, I thought it was missing something. So after doing a little stamp surgery. I stamped the little confetti pieces under the sentiment, and then I colored them. The rest of the instructions on how I made the card come with the die cut I used.

Stamps: Stampendous HM Clear Stamp Set
Paper: CTMH White Daisy, Central Park

To create this card. I started out by stamping onto the card base. Then I stamped onto some Post-It notes. After that I fussy cut the images out and set them aside. I then went back to the card base and began the coloring process. When the coloring was complete. I then put the masks I made out of the Post-It notes on top of the colored images. Owl Wish You a Happy Birthday

Howdy!

Today's card is being entered into these challenges:
#SSSIGCHALLENGE - Which is Simon Says Stamp Challenges on Instagram. This month's challenge is to create birthday cards.
Your Next Stamp Challenge #132 – Create Your Own Background
A Blog Named Hero - Birthday Challenge
AAA Birthday Card Challenges - Game #10 Cute
Time Out Challenges - Challenge #155

For this card, I did quite a few techniques. The first was stamping the owls onto the watercolor paper. Then heat embossing them. After that I sprayed the paper down with my water bottle. I found that the best was to get the Arteza watercolor paper to work is to spray it down first. I then used my Arteza pens to color them in and blended that out with my waterbrush. Once, I was happy with how the owls look. I next created a mask by stamping the owls onto a Post-It note and the fussy cutting that out. Then I placed the mask over the owls. Next, I took out my homemade stencil, part of a sponge, and my distress oxide ink pad. I then used those items to create my cloudy background. After that I sprayed the oxide ink with my water bottle. This was my first time using the oxide ink to create cloudy background. But, I like how it turned out. What do you think?

Stamps: Hero Arts Messages, Lil Hoot
Paper: Arteza Expert Watercolor Pad
Ink: CTMH Intense Black, Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Broken China

Peaceful Garden

Howdy!

Today's card is being entered into these challenges:
AAA Cards CAS Game #159 - One Corner + optional twist Love Those Older Supplies
For the older supplies that I used, I would have to say my various stamp pads. As I rarely do cards that I don't color in myself.
Altenew 2020 February Inspiration Challenge

This image reminds me of my mother-in-law's garden. Although, to actually do her garden justice. I would have to stamp out a series of cards. You see my mother-in-law doesn't have only a flower garden. She also has a fruit tree and vegetable garden. And now she's been expanding her garden into growing herbal medical type plants. That of course is underneath her various trees. It's almost like visiting a state park when you go to her house.

For this card, I did a good deal of masking. But first, I started out by stamping the flowers onto the card base. Then, I stamped them onto some Post-It notes that I then fussy cut out. The flowers cut from the Post-It notes were then used as masks. I couldn't think of a sentiment to put onto this card so I left that part off. The good thing about that is you can stamp whatever sentiment you would like to onto it later.

Paper: CTMH White Daisy
Ink: CTMH Fern, New England Ivy, Canary, Sweet Leaf, Saffron

In Memory of Bill Blog Hop

Howdy!

This hop is to support our friend and fellow design team member Sue Trembeth. Sue recently lost  her brother to esophageal cancer. The color theme for this hop is periwinkle, which is the color of esophageal cancer awareness.

If this is your first stop on the hop please start at
Mynn Kitchen's blog - On a Stampage

If you are on track with the hop the next stop on the hop is
LeAnn Skinner - The Stamping Tornado

Cancer is a terrible disease and it's hard to believe that people still die from it. We lost my step-dad to liver cancer in 2016. More recently my younger brother passed away last month. So I empathize with Sue.

As for the details on how I created this card. Sorry, I won't be providing those today. But I will have a YouTube video available later detailing how it was created.

Dachshund Your Birthday

Howdy!

Today's card is being entered  into these challenges:
A Blog Named Hero - Birthday Challenge
AAA Birthday Card Challenges - Game #10 Cute
Time Out Challenges - Challenge #155.
Use the quote - "It's your birthday, so party and throw acts of kindness around like confetti!"
#SSSIGCHALLENGE - Which is Simon Says Stamp Challenges on Instagram. This month's challenge is to create birthday cards.
Spectrum Noir Creative Community (on Facebook) challenge - which is birthdays

Stamps: Hero Arts Holiday Dachshund, Messages
Ink: CTMH Intense Black
Accessories: Spectrum Noir Triblend Earth Brown, Brown Grey, Jade Green, Coral, Dark Red, Bright Pink, Purple

My inspiration for the card. And one of the lights of my life is my sweet girl Samantha. She's a very sweet girl unless she has a toy or is playing with one of our other dogs. Then she's a real terror. Also, it's quite hard to get a good picture of her. Because when they were coming up with Vantablack, aka the blackest black. They must of used her as a reference, LOL. When we go downstairs at night, with the lights out. We find her by looking for the black hole looking area. But, I wouldn't go putting anything on her back. Well except for a dog toy or treat.

Mistletoe Love and Kisses

Howdy!

Today's card is being entered  into these challenges:
House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge #309 Anything Goes with the option of Love and/or Valentine's, Hostess Bunny.

Although it is a Christmas stamp, it does have a romantic feel. And to help emphasize that more, I added the hearts surrounding the mice.

I hope y'all are having a wonderful Valentine's Day or a great weekend! I love this stamp because it shows how much work can go into that special kiss.

The first Valentine's Day I had with my husband was wonderful! We were still dating at the time. We had only been dating since Thanksgiving. And one of the things we enjoyed doing was going on walks through the grounds of the State Capital. (We live in Austin, TX) So that Valentine's evening he picked me up for our date and before dinner we went on a walk. While we were on our walk he sat me down on one of the benches. And he proposed. We will be celebrating our 19th Valentine's Day today.

And although he will be resting from having laser eye surgery today. We still love each other now as much as we did back then. I'd say even more, as we've grown together a lot in all these years.

Stamps: CTMH Craft With Heart January - April Card Kit, House Mouse Designs Mistletoe Mice
Paper: Strathmore Bristol Vellum Surface
