Today - Dr. Seuss

Howdy!

Today over at the Color My Heart Color Dare challenge blog. We have a NEW challenge which is to be inspired by this picture!

The colors that I saw in this picture that inspired me are the shades of pink and the blue of the water in the pool. I created this card by bringing out my stencil and distress inks. I applied the inks using a makeup brush. Then I used a water bottle to activate the properties of the distress inks. I then die cut the circles for the sentiment. When I put the card together. I thought that the card was missing something. So I chose to splatter paint onto the card. (If you wish to see how I splatter paint. This video has that technique.)

Stamps: CTMH You Are My Happy
Paper: CTMH White Daisy, Bazzill Aruba
Ink: CTMH Intense Black, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, Abandoned Coral
Accessories: M. Graham & Co Acrylic Ivory Black, Altenew Broken Chevron stencil, Tim Holtz Stitched Circles, QuicKutz Nesting Circles

Something Good in Every Day

Howdy!

Today over at the Color My Heart Color Dare challenge blog. We have a NEW Tic-Tac-Toe challenge! I chose to go for the middle column and off the middle row to the left.

For today's card I started out by die cutting and then stamping. I picked this stamp set because it only has 2 layers for each image. So I was able to create the images by using black ink for the second layer. Except for the leaves, which I did heat embossing with Gold Tinsel for the second layer. I then took the stamped and die cut floral images and laid them onto the card. Then I brought out Glad Press'n Seal and put that over 3 of the images. That made it easier to add adhesive to them. For the leaves and smaller flowers I used Liquid Glass. While the larger flowers have 3M foam tape behind them. But before attaching the flowers to the card base. I stamped the sentiment and then heat embossed with Princess Gold embossing powder. Then I placed the floral bunches on both sides and cut away the excess. And to finish the card off I masked the sentiment with Post-It note. Then splattered gold paint over the front of the card.

Stamps: CTMH Boutique Scrapbooking Day-to-Day, Altenew Peaceful Reverie
Paper: CTMH Linen
Ink: CTMH Intense Black, Peacock, Evergreen, VersaMark Dazzle Frost
Accessories: Altenew Peaceful Reverie dies, folkArt Metallic Acrylic Paint Pure Gold, Ranger Embossing Powder Princess Gold, Gold Tinsel

You're a Gem Happy Mother's Day 2020

Howdy!

Today's card was inspired by the Spring Card Camp class. That, I've been taking through Online Card Classes. The most recent lesson was to Make a Statement with Sentiments! I went with the Big, Bold Sentiments part of the lesson. The main message of this card is Happy Mother's Day! And I added a couple of sentiment stamps to create a full statement. For the "You're a Gem" part, I fussy cut that one out. And for the "I Adore You", that is cut using my paper trimmer. For the background of the card, I took a stencil and went with a gradient pink color.

Stamps: Altenew Cross Stitch Flower, C9 Gem Turnabout
Paper: CTMH White Daisy, Black
Ink: CTMH Intense Black, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, Candied Apple, Abandoned Coral
Accessories: ARTplorations Rows of Hearts, Kat Scrappiness Happy Mother's Day Diem Amazon makeup brush

Always Here For You

Howdy!

I am so excited because today is my start as a Design Team member of the Color My Heart Color Dare team. The  new challenge is to get inspiration from this color wheel picture. And to keep it in a single gradient of colors. So if you pick the color pink as I did you would go light,  medium and dark pink.

If you are a regular follower of my blog, I know this card is a little outside of my regular style. I'm experimenting right now. Let me know what you think of my experiment. I'm thinking I should ease up a little on the ink splotching. But that it does in general look cool.

Stamps: Altenew Painted Rose
Paper: CTMH White Daisy
Ink: CTMH Intense Black, Ballerina, Pixie, Raspberry, New England Ivy, Fern, Sweet Leaf
Accessories: FolkArt Metallic Pure Gold Acrylic Paint, M. Graham & Co. Ivory Black Acrylic

Today's card is also being entered into the following challenges:
Lil Patch of  Crafty Friends Challenge #130

You Amaze Me

Howdy!

Today over at the Make My Monday challenge blog. We have a NEW challenge it's to create something Spring Flowers.

I had a lot of fun creating today's card. It's been a bit since I've done triple step stamping. The important trick to this type of stamping is layering your stamps. I use the We R Memory Stamp Press. It comes with a platform and a plexi sheet to place your stamps on. You can buy extra plexi sheets. Which is what I do. I actually have 2 Stamp Presses and an extra plexi sheet.

So I start the process of triple stamping by placing the largest of the layer stamps onto my cardbase. Then I press the plexi sheet on top, which mounts the largest stamp. I then take the medium sized stamp and place it on top of the plexi sheet right where it is set for layering the stamps. Next, I continue the steps for placement until all the stamps are set up.

Today's card is also being entered into the following challenges:
The Paper Girls CHALLENGE /#197 - Florals
Try It On Tuesday Beauty of Nature - Flowers are my favorite part about nature
Wednesday's Creative Inspirations April Challenge - April Showers & Flowers!
The Flower Challenge #43 'Spring/Autumn' - the colors of these flowers remind me of Spring

Stamps: Altenew Painted Rose
Paper: CTMH White Daisy
Ink: Ranger Letter It Embossing Ink Pad, CTMH New England Ivy, Fern, Sweet Leaf, Thistle, Lilac, Pansy

Mahalo

Howdy!

Today's card is being entered into the following challenges:

Wednesday's Creative Inspirations April Challenge - April Showers & Flowers!
The Flower Challenge #43 'Spring/Autumn' - the colors of these flowers remind me of Spring
Dragonfly Dreams Challenge Add A Flower/Flowers

The inspiration picture makes me think of Hawaii. Which is where I was born! That is why the sentiment I used for today's card is the Hawaiian word "Mahalo"
Mahalo means
exclamation (mainly in Hawaii) used to express gratitude.
"mahalo for your support"
noun
(mainly in Hawaii) an expression of gratitude.
"a big mahalo goes out to these volunteer groups"

For this card, I did my best at trying to match the colors with what I have at home. For the background, I did a alcohol ink blowing technique on Yupo paper. The sentiment was die cut, 4 times. For the top layer, I swiped perfect medium over the top and then put embossing powder on top. And then I heat set it. Then, the 3 other pieces were layered underneath to give some dimension to the sentiment. The flowers and the leaves were first die cut and then stamped. To make it easier on myself, I numbered the back of the stamps, so I would remember what order they go in.

Stamps: Altenew Painted Rose
Paper: CTMH White Daisy, Legion Yupo Medium
Ink: CTMH New England Ivy, Fern, Sweet Leaf, Raspberry, Blossom, Bashful, Ranger Perfect Medium
Accessories: Altenew Painted Rose, Ranger Silver Tinsel embossing powder, Lil' Inker Designs Hawaiian Words, Brea Reese Fog, Slate, Blending Solution

Here is a close up of what the word mahalo looks like.

Stay Blessed

Howdy!

Today's card is being entered into the following challenges:
Altenew March 2020 Inspiration Challenge

With all the coloring I've been doing lately! Sometimes it's just nice to make a card without the coloring. I did have to adjust the smaller stamps a couple of times to get this look. And I think it looks very fun!

Peaceful Garden

Howdy!

Today's card is being entered into these challenges:
AAA Cards CAS Game #159 - One Corner + optional twist Love Those Older Supplies
For the older supplies that I used, I would have to say my various stamp pads. As I rarely do cards that I don't color in myself.
Altenew 2020 February Inspiration Challenge

This image reminds me of my mother-in-law's garden. Although, to actually do her garden justice. I would have to stamp out a series of cards. You see my mother-in-law doesn't have only a flower garden. She also has a fruit tree and vegetable garden. And now she's been expanding her garden into growing herbal medical type plants. That of course is underneath her various trees. It's almost like visiting a state park when you go to her house.

For this card, I did a good deal of masking. But first, I started out by stamping the flowers onto the card base. Then, I stamped them onto some Post-It notes that I then fussy cut out. The flowers cut from the Post-It notes were then used as masks. I couldn't think of a sentiment to put onto this card so I left that part off. The good thing about that is you can stamp whatever sentiment you would like to onto it later.

Stamps: Altenew Peaceful Reverie
Paper: CTMH White Daisy
Ink: CTMH Fern, New England Ivy, Canary, Sweet Leaf, Saffron
