Today is the 2nd day I am participating in The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge! I have found it to be great motivation to work on my coloring. Have you had a chance to play along?

For today's card, I started out by creating a mask for the mouse. Then I stamped it onto the card base. Next, I placed the mask on top of the image and stenciled in a scene. When I was done creating the scene, I removed the mask. Next, I noticed that there was a bit of white space, where it wasn't needed. That is why I started by creating the shadow. I then used shimmer brushes to color in the jelly beans. And then, I moved my way into coloring with markers. This is the darkest, I've colored the mice in. Although, I do like it, I wouldn't go so dark again. If you scroll underneath this card picture, you will find a close up of the mouse and jelly beans. That way you will be able to see the sparkle better.

For today's card, I did a bit of ink smooshing onto watercolor paper. I then ran the watercolor paper through the Xyron machine so it would be sticky on the back. Then I die cut a puzzle heart. And then I placed that onto the card base. Underneath the heart, I stamped the sentiment Love.

Today is the start of a whole new The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge. I'm so happy that they started the challenge back up again. It's been great motivation to practice and use my coloring mediums.

For today's card, I created a video. But as I don't do my own editing, I'm crossing my fingers it is available this weekend. If it is available sooner I'll post it here. Other then that, I used colored pencils and baby oil for blending the colors. Then I popped a mask over the top of the bunnies. And then I brought out my homemade stencils and created the rest of the scene. Under the bunnies, I used a green marker to create the shadows. To complete the card, I used a variety of die cut clouds, I stamped the sentiment on two of them. And for the rest I scattered them about. For the cloud above the Hoppy Easter sentiment, I used a blue marker to create a bit of a shadow.

Narwhals at Play

Howdy!

Today over at the Cardz4Guys Challenge Blog. We have a NEW challenge! That is to create a card using the theme #242 On Or Beside the Sea.

Today's card is also being entered into the following challenges
Crafty Sentiments Designs Anything Goes Challenge
Paperminutes # 635 - Make Someone Happy
Arty Divas Challenge #19
SOS 417: Under the Sun, Moon, and Stars - used supplies that were already in my stash, no new purchases
STAMPlorations April Stencil Challenge

For today's card, I began by doing a little stamp surgery. This cute little narwhal comes with a sentiment attached. So I cut it apart. Then I created the stencil. I used the Avery Elle Waves Die and some junk mail. That's my way of doing my part to recycle. And then before I started stamping onto the cardstock piece, I stamped onto a couple of Post-Its. Then I fussy cut the narwhals out, those creating a mask. Next, I stamped onto the cardstock. When I was done stamping, I put the masks on top of both of the narwhals and then brought out the homemade stencil. I applied the ink by using a makeup brush.

Then I moved onto coloring the narwhals. For that I used my alcohol marker and colored pencils. The pencils were used for the horn and the color was blended using my Fantastix and baby oil.

Stamps: SU! Quirky Critters
Paper: CTMH White Daisy
Ink: CTMH Intense Black, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Salty Ocean
Accessories: Spectrum Noir Triblend Ice Grey, Prismacolor Premier Cream, Peach Beige, Fantastix, homemade stencil (Avery Elle Waves Die), Amazon makeup brush

SOS 417: Under the Sun, Moon, and Stars - used supplies from my stash, no new supplies used
Addicted to CAS Challenge #181 - Texture - embossing folder

For today's card, I used an embossing folder for the background. Well mostly, you see this pattern is laid out in landscape mode. While I created my card in portrait mode. So to get the pattern on the bottom, I used my Speedball handle tool. It was able to press the pattern into the remaining part of the cardstock. The sun is made using a die cut. And the rainbow pieces were cut out of my paper trimmer. The sun and rainbow pieces were ink smooshed to create a watercolor look. And the sentiment was stamped on a scrap and then fussy cut to create the banner.

Stamps: MFT Clearly Sentimental About New Beginnings
Paper: CTMH White Daisy, Canson XL Watercolor
Ink: CTMH Archival Black, Clover, Bluebird, Nectarine, Candy Apple, Pansy
